Step back into the romance of nineteenth-century gardens with the True Antique Shrub Rose Bundle, a trio of historic roses treasured for their rich colors, distinctive flower forms, and enduring garden appeal. Dating to the 1830s and 1840s, these varieties bring together generations of rose-growing history in one collection, from full, fragrant pink blooms to deep crimson flowers that change color as they open and mature.

Color & Bloom Combination: This bundle celebrates the depth and richness of antique rose colors. Baronne Prevost brings large, very double blooms in a beautiful soft pink, with a strong fragrance that adds an unmistakably romantic touch. Louis Philippe contributes double, deep crimson flowers with a blush center, creating a dramatic contrast against the softer pink tones. Archduke Charles adds another layer of interest with shapely blooms that open in shades of crimson and pink before darkening to solid crimson. Together, these roses create a palette of soft pink, blush, and deep red, with full, layered petals and color that evolves as the flowers mature.

How to Use in Your Garden: Plant these roses together in a heritage-inspired rose bed or cottage-garden border where their historic character and rich colors can take center stage. Baronne Prevost is a lovely choice near a seating area or garden path, where its strong fragrance can be appreciated. Use Louis Philippe to introduce a deeper crimson accent, and position Archduke Charles nearby to enjoy its changing flower colors as the blooms develop. Their compact shrub sizes make them suitable for mixed borders and smaller rose gardens, where they can be appreciated individually or as a coordinated collection.

Meet Your Roses!  Your bundle includes one rose of each variety:

  • Baronne Prevost (1842) — A classic antique rose growing approximately 4–5 feet tall, with large, flat, very double blooms in rich soft pink. Its strong fragrance and generous, layered petals make it a wonderful choice for a traditional rose garden or a fragrant planting near a walkway.
  • Louis Philippe (1834) — A historic China rose reaching approximately 3–5 feet tall, with double, deep crimson blooms accented by a blush center. Known in Texas as the “Zavala rose,” this variety carries a special place in regional rose history and brings a rich, old-fashioned red to the garden.
  • Archduke Charles (before 1837) — A China rose growing approximately 3–5 feet tall, with shapely flowers that open in a combination of crimson and pink before darkening to solid crimson. Its changing colors add depth and variety to the planting, making it an intriguing companion to the other antique roses in this collection.
