2016

3 to 4 feet

Velvety, deep red blooms unfold in classic form, their rich color catching the light like crimson satin. Each flower carries a soft, sweet rose fragrance with a gentle hint of spice; noticeable enough to enjoy, yet never overpowering. The blooms are ideal for cutting, adding depth and romance to arrangements indoors.

Reaching 3–4 feet long, Sweet Pegge forms leggy, relaxed canes that give her a graceful, informal presence. She is particularly striking in containers, where her supple growth can spill elegantly over the edges, softening patios and porches with cascading color. For a more structured look, she performs beautifully trained onto an obelisk or small support, creating a refined vertical accent.

One of her most charming qualities is her very low thorn count, making cutting and training a much friendlier task than many red roses.

Sweet Pegge blooms generously through the season, even continuing through summer with slightly smaller blooms. In periods of intense heat (mid-90s and above), flowering may pause, but once temperatures moderate, she rebounds with renewed color.

Romantic, versatile, and especially well-suited for gardeners with limited space, Sweet Pegge is a lovely choice for containers, small gardens, and anyone seeking rich red blooms without the high-maintenance temperament.
