Small in stature but wonderfully generous in bloom, Ray Ponton is a charming little Polyantha that can become a spectacular sight when covered in flowers. Its delicate one-inch blooms arrive in abundant clusters, filling the compact bush with soft mauve blossoms touched with subtle white undertones. When in full bloom, the flowers nearly smother the plant, creating a beautiful ribbon of color along garden paths, borders, and containers.
Introduced by Antique Rose Emporium in 2022, this rose was named in honor of Ray Allen Ponton, a beloved Texas Rose Rustler and rose breeder whose passion helped preserve and share treasured roses. Ray’s legacy lives on through roses like this one, bringing both beauty and a meaningful piece of Texas rose history into the garden.
Ray Ponton grows into a short, compact plant reaching approximately 1 to 2 feet tall and spreading 30 inches to 3 feet wide. Its semi-glossy, medium green foliage provides a lovely backdrop for the clusters of full mauve blooms. With a mild fragrance and prolific flowering habit, it produces flushes of blossoms throughout the growing season.
Its diminutive size makes Ray Ponton especially versatile. Plant it in mass along walkways for a soft, flower-filled edging, tuck it into the front of a border, use it as a low-growing landscape accent, or let it spill beautifully from a container. Hardy and adaptable, this little rose brings an abundance of personality wherever it grows.

Antique Rose Emporium is in Texas and the December weather can be anywhere from below freezing to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. But our weather is extremely mild compared to the northern United States.
We want you to have the best success possible with your roses and ask that you let us care for them over the winter and receive them at the time that you plan to plant.
Please ensure that you are not experiencing freezing temperatures and the ground is not frozen when you plan to receive your rose.
