About the Nursery and Display Gardens

The Antique Rose Emporium was founded in 1983 in the historic Independence Texas. The Antique Rose Emporium was founded with the love roses and the desire to save the Old Garden Roses from disappearing into history. The Rose Emporium Nursery and Display Gardens encompasses eight acres of roses, perennials, annuals, natives, herbs, and more. From single roses for one-time guests, to scaled landscape projects and restorations, and major national garden retailers, we have something for every level of enthusiast.

Beautiful historic buildings, retail spaces, a charming and elegant rental venue for all types of occasions. Right around the corner from this piece of paradise nestled in the heart of Texas, the growing fields, where around 100,000 roses are grown each year, are located.

We offer an assortment of activities at the Nursery and Display Gardens. From children’s events, educational seminars, workshops, corporate events, weddings, and more, our venue is ready for you! Our gift shop sells a huge assortment of things! From seeds, gifts, books, apparel, gardening accessories, houseplants, and more, there is something for everyone. We also have an assortment of refreshments and snacks, perfect for walking throughout the gardens.

The Champneys’ Green Victorian house was built in 1904 and provides an intimate setting for private wedding events and celebrations year-round. An outdoor pavilion connects directly to Champneys, surrounded by roses and many other varieties of plants creating a charming and cozy garden setting. In addition to the pavilion, Champneys’ includes multiple-tier trellis pathways and a gazebo, all flanked in beautiful cascading roses and other plant varieties, the period gardens are groomed and managed by incredible staff at the Nursery and Display Gardens.

There is a 1500 square foot classic country chapel that seats up to 150 for events of all kinds.

An additional treasure within the Nursery and Display Gardens, is part of the original homestead. The McKnight-Hairston house stood on the land for over a century. Today the original stone kitchen remains and has been fully restored. The stone kitchen currently houses gardening hardware.
