A truly unique rose that earns its name from the blueberry-like appearance of its rounded, leathery foliage - especially when its leaves take on rich fall tones. This hardy shrub is nearly thornless and remarkably cold-tolerant, making it a joy to grow in a variety of zones.
Fragrant, semi-double blooms in vivid pink open throughout the season with bright yellow stamens that pop against the foliage. While it blooms primarily in spring, it offers an occasional encore later in the year.
This rose was bred as part of Dr. Robert Basye’s pioneering work toward thornless, disease-resistant roses. With lineage tracing back to Commander Gillette and Rosa virginiana, it’s a valuable addition to any landscape, especially for those who prefer a lower-maintenance, wildlife-friendly garden.
