The original Bourbon roses came to Europe as the result of a natural cross between ‘Old Blush’ and ‘Autumn Damask’. This occurred on the Isle de Bourbon (Réunion) and the "natives" called the result of the cross ‘Rose Edouard’. We have traced the source of our stock to the Sangerhausen Rosarium, in Germany. The rose itself is exceedingly fragrant, having deep rose-pink, semi-double blooms. The foliage is textured like that of the Damasks, but has more of the coloring of the Chinas. Flowering is remontant, but far from "everblooming" as some early publications claim.
