SHRUB ROSE

2131
Canary Island
Found
Unknown

This nice rose, found by Gregg Grant in San Antonio, Texas, appears to be a Gallica. It has all the apprpriate qualitites, long slender canes, a minimum of prickles, the right texture, color, and shape to the leaves, as well as excellent scent. We know very little about it, but we do know that it was brought to the Texas coast in the 1920's from Canary Island, hence its found name. The flowers are lavender and full, but alas occur only in the spring.
