Rose Naming Sweepstakes

“Imagine naming your very own rose after a loved one or yourself and sharing its beauty with thousands of gardeners. Now is your chance!”
Mike Shoup
Owner, Antique Rose Emporium

You know of the wonderful virtues of old garden roses. Some, through our breeding, have led to the development of our new Pioneer Rose. This contest allows the winner to name the newest Pioneer rose that will be marketed by the Antique Rose Emporium.

Each order placed between June 1, 2007 and May 30, 2008 for FOUR or more roses will automatically secure an entry into the rose naming sweepstakes. The winner will name this Pioneer rose that the Antique Rose Emporium will register with the American Rose Society, publicize on its website, and market in its catalogue.

The Antique Rose Emporium (ARE) agrees to propagate the rose in significant numbers to market and sell through its website and mail order catalogues, as well as sending six roses to the winner. (Note: this process may take one year from the time of naming to achieve.) ARE will register the rose with the American Rose Society. In order to register the rose it must have a unique name that is not already registered with American Rose Society. The name must be “tasteful” as determined by the staff of ARE. The rose will not be patented. There are no royalties to be paid and there are no constraints on other individuals or growers who want to grow, propagate and sell the rose. All moneys collected in the sale of the rose by ARE belonging to ARE.

Examples of newly introduced roses in the Pioneer Series that have already seen national exposure and sales are Jane Bullock, Sam Houston, Rockwall Sesquicentennial (named after the city of Rockwall, TX) and Miss Lillian.
